Trusting God 21 Aug 05

What does it mean to trust God? It means waking up every morning, knowing that he will bring you through to the end of the day (and the end of times) just fine. Having just become a father, this is so important. I can wake up each day worrying about what's going to happen to my son, or I can wake up each day with the full assurance that God is in charge. It is not an easy thing. But as we grow in love and maturity, trusting Him is the only way we can make it through each day, for blessed are the poor in spirit. Any other way, we are placing unfounded confidence in ourselves -- only to be disappointed later.

God's Work or Our Work?4 Jul 05

It's easy to forget that God put us here for work -- his work. Yes, we work to bring the bacon home, feed the family, and share with his Church. We work as witnesses of His greater glory and kingdom to come. Yet, we don't really want to spend time working for His kingdom. Weekdays are for our secular careers, for our egos, and for our greed, and the weekend? Just chill and relax, and enjoy the "fruits" of our labour. After all, isn't Sabbath about rest and recreation? That's exactly the situation this website has found itself in. Buried in our own business, there's no time left for God's work.

But we move on, trusting in His goodness and divine completion of His will. Many Christian souls need encouraging; and we remain committed to the sharing of testimonies as one of the ways we speak the truth about the gospel. We've added two more testimonies since Jan, and we welcome what you have to say to encourage others =)

Reflections 23 Jan 05

It's been a while since we have been lingering in the "beta" version of this project, thinking through and trying out different ideas.

Today, I read about the story of Lott Carey in the devotions, One Year in Christian History, which is an excellent guide for history buffs. Carey was a slave. He was converted as a baptist, earned his way to freedom and then sailed to Liberia to preach the Word. He died there 8 years later. He didn't wait "to be called."

God's Kingdom waits for no man. Either we take part in His Story, or we wait and squander our lives in ours. The cross shines forth, with or without us. We can't tell God that we will get involved in His Story once we sorted out our lives or figured out which is the best way to build a website for testimonies. We just do it to the best of our abilities, each time, trusting that he will provide and bring us through -- for His Work is already done.

So there, with warts and all, it's time to get this baby off the ground =)

Do take time to explore the introduction and think about how you might wish to add to this depository of testimonies, sharing your story, and growing the faith of others. There is no time to lose.
